Do I need to install or download anything?
No download or installation is required to use the service. WriteThat.Name is based on 'cloud' architecture. Only your email address is required in order to activate your account and start using the service.
How do you connect to my email and to my address book?
WriteThat.Name uses OpenID and OAuth to access your account. We never ask for or save your password.
Do you read my mail?
No human reads your mail. A computer program receives a copy of your incoming mail. Our detection system looks through your messages to find contact details and link them to a signature. Once analyzed, the copies are immediately and automatically deleted. We do not keep or archive any mail. Respect for your privacy is our absolute priority.
Do I need to change my habits for this to work?
In automatic mode, you don't need to do anything for the system to work. The detected signatures are submitted to you via an email report.
In manual mode, you need to validate the suggestions in the email report in order to update your address book.
What does WriteThat.Name do?
The general principle is that we detect the signatures added by your contacts in the email messages they send you.
If the person who writes to you is a trusted source, we will extract their contact details and update your address book: you don't need to do anything.
More details on the page How does it work?
I would like to select my new contacts myself.
Maybe you'd rather choose manually which contacts should be created or updated, instead of letting WriteThat.Name update your address book automatically?
In that case, the 'Manual' mode is made for you! In manual mode, the extracted details are not added to your address book: it's up to you to decide whether to validate or not each entry in order to update the relevant contact.
To use this option, go to your Settings and select 'Let me confirm manually'.
Which languages does WriteThat.Name speak?
WriteThat.Name analyzes with precision the messages written in French and in English and recognizes the addresses and phone numbers from many North-American and European countries (including Italy, Germany and Spain). If you notice any country detection errors, do not hesitate to let us know. In your Settings, you can also choose the language in which the interface will be displayed (French or English). Please note that this will not change the way the service works: it will keep analyzing emails in both languages.
Can I subscribe with several email addresses?
Yes, absolutely! All you need to do is sign up with each of your addresses.
With the Premium subscription, we offer a new feature, Multi-Account, which allows you to centralize all your contacts in a single address book. To use this option, go to the 'Multi-Account' tab in your Settings!
How much does the service cost?

Whether you are an individual user or a company, you can enjoy a period of 30 days to evaluate all WriteThat.Name services (just like a Premium user). After this period of 30 days:

  1. If you are an individual user, you must make a choice:
    1. If you wish to keep using the complete range of WriteThat.Name features, you must subscribe for 15€/year or 2€/month.
    2. If you wish to keep using WriteThat.Name without the Premium features, you have nothing to do, you will automatically switch to the Free User mode.
    3. If you no longer wish to use WriteThat.Name, unsubscribe from the main tab in your Settings.
  2. If you are a corporate user, you can choose the configuration that best suits your needs on the Corporate page.
Can I stop using the service at any time?
Yes, there is no minimum commitment duration. At any time, you can disable the service from your Settings. You can also revoke the authorization given to WriteThat.Name from your Gmail account.
I received an email report from WriteThat.Name, but I can't see any changes in my address book. Why?
The first possible explanation is that you are not looking in the correct address book: we update the Gmail contacts in your master account (be careful about this, in particular if you are using the Multi-Account option). Otherwise, you may have activated Manual Mode: in Manual Mode, WriteThat.Name does not update your address book automatically, you are the one who chooses individually the contacts to update in the email report that you receive from WriteThat.Name ('Save in Gmail').
I receive a lot of mail, but WriteThat.Name does not suggest any new contact details. What's happening?
Several reasons can lead to WriteThat.Name not suggesting any new contacts.
The first one is that your address book may already be very complete. Actually, we will never suggest contacts that do not contain at least one new contact detail.
The second possible case is more complex to determine: to avoid adding to your address book the details of persons who are not really related to you (spammers, commercial mail...), we establish a profile of your mailbox. If the address you gave them is not your main address, or if you only use it occasionally to write to your contacts, then this profiling may be wrong. In that case, do not hesitate to write to us, we will do everything we can to fix this problem.
The detected contact details are wrong. How can I report it?
We work hard every day to enhance the precision of the extracted information, but errors may still occur. If you notice an erroneous element in a contact's details, we would be very grateful if you could report it to us by replying to the email report, adding the last signature you received from this person. Thanks for your help!
When I try to review a contact suggested by WriteThat.Name, I get an error message like "Some features failed to load".
